| Description: | UPDATE: A much tidier patch which should now midi map to the eight device control knobs of the APC40 automatically (works for me so would love some feedback) Two types of reset, you can now reset globally all parameters in all devices with one button (for the start of a set) or reset all of one parameter if you've been filtering sounds across several tracks at once and want to kick it back in on the beat? Temp button currently unmapped as i decide what to do with the option of recording temporary reset values, i prefer them hard coded in the activity of playing a set i want to know what figures it's going back to and so you'll find the values that each parameter resets to in the bpatcher (they are all mapped to a r ---global object) if you want to change these to match your set up... Cheers D This patch gives control of a single parameter across 8 tracks to maximise the usage of the APC40. It feeds itself from the track names of your own template and controls the first device placed in each track populating the device with the parameters that you can control. A standard set of default values are recorded (look for the r resetbang objects if you want to change these). Contact: darrenecowley@sky.com |

Hi, this thing is really nice, but it maps itself to wrong device control encoders - one row lower :( i mean that device encoder no. 5 is controlling the filter no. 1, encoder 6 - filter no 2, etc. filters 5-8 are not controlled... I usually use nativkontrol preset with Bomes MTplayer, but now have turned it off, no help. Help plz! (MacOSX Snow, Live 8.1, APC)

I get the same problem. "Device Control Knobs" 5-8 controls 1-4, "Device Control Knobs" 1-4 control nothing? How do I fix that?

Hi There, Guy's i can't replicate this behaviour within my patch and haven't found any documentation on how to make this work, i simply created the 8 live.dials first before any other patching and this seemed to make them be the first to be mapped.... I'm unsure of how to allocate the controls in this way, like a mac it just works! I've tested on both Snow and Tiger and have the same result...? Cheers D

Nice patch, I like the concept. The problem everyone's having is that the first four encoders on the APC 40 Device Control section are mapping to 'load', 'reset defaults', 'temporary record' and 'temporary reset' by default.

The guys at Cycling have confirmed that currently there is no way of controlling which eight controls the apc maps to, as a workaround create an empty max patch then put 8 live dials into it, take the contents of my patch and paste them into the new patch and then replace the 8 live dials with the ones that you created originally.... Until Cycling and Live give us a way of defining which controls are activated there seems to be little other way of achieving the desired result.... Cheers D

I've now incorporated this path within http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=137 Updated and refined..... New functionality mimics the APC40's standard mapping, this'll need a second device on a midi track or the use of bomes to make the most of the APC but for now i' just trying to get the patch working to do what i want it to.... Next steps are a few more Live API calls and then it's onto effects and beatmashing... (probably using the iphone at some point) When the ability to define the APC40 mapping directly to live.dials is updated i'll return here to update this patch.... If you;ve done good things with it then let me know at darrenecowley@sky.com Cheers D

When you say it maps automatically this is what I get. APC - device Knob 1 - button five Knob 2 - load Knob 3 - four Knob 5 - Temp Knob 6 - eight Knob 7 - no response Knob 8 - no response APC Device Control Buttons all work in their default mode, no automatic mapping. Should I midi map these??? Did I misunderstand what you meant by automatically? When I midi map them it works great so far. Thanks cuz I really needed something proper to map to the device control station.

Damn, back to the drawing board, i changed the order control on each of the eight knobs (the invisible ones) so that you could use the device cotrol of the APC40, it works fine on mine but then so did my first patch.... It needs to map directly to the device control knobs when you take control of the device using the blue hand.....! You can of course midi map them directly as i'll be doing with the apc40 by using the pan bank of controls (who uses pan anyway!) It all works bar that one thing.... so annoying!! Cheers D

Maybe I was not being specific enough. I thought by Automatic Mapping you meant the device would automatically map itself to the APC40's device control as if I mapped it, regardless of where I dropped it in the set. I am using the Device control section mapped to it using abletons midi map. Of course this takes away the funtionality of the APC's default Device Control section. But I dont really use it like that. I do however map keystrokes to EffectRacks in the "blue hand" fashion and using Bomes I have PAN, SEND A, B, and C buttons emulating those keystrokes. That way I can hit the PAN or SEND A, B and C button which selects the desired effect and those knobs are hard mapped to them. For me it's just simpler that way. And I still get access to 32 parameters with 8 knobs. THANKS D, I love this thing!!!
