Device Overview

Name/Version: SEND Control 1.3
Author: JuanSOLO
Description: !!!!UPDATE!!!!

Thanks to Darren C for tipping me off about how to get the device to "KNOW" which track it has been placed in.

I added and FXclip feature on Send control D and E. This is really meant to be used when sending audio to Delays or Reverbs. When the FXcut button has been mapped to a momentary button on your hardware and you are using it to send audio to a delay it will clip the incoming signal and leave just the echo of the last little snip of sound, AS YOU HOLD DOWN THE BUTTON. When released, the incoming audio returns. It has adjustable delay and fade timers to adjust it the rate the signal is clipped. GOOD for DJing transitions, and DUB!

I also added some preset features. You can activate presets with a mouse click, or dial then bang the dialed number, or just use the dial by itself. I was trying to figure out how to recall presets with Program Change numbers stored in a midi clip. For example when I use this "Send Control" device after my drumRack. I would like to be able to fire clips and that recall the preset I assigned. This feature does not work in a Max Audio Device. It works in an Max instrument and Midi FX, but I cant figure out how to get it to act like an Audio effect in that manner. I'm not sure exactly where to store the "preset" file that it will ask you to save when you've set your presets and are saving the device.

Still have not figured out the best way to toggle Send A, B, and C with GUI updates, but mapped to my APC40 it updates the led's the way I want. IF you edit this device sometimes you have to retrigger the buttons with your controller to snap things back in place.

All my changes have ben annotated, so mouse over them to remember what they do.

ENJOY!

---END UPDATE---

Thanks to lvehon for building the parameter sequencer that I implemented in this idea.

This is a device I needed for my typical set layout, which is somewhat like the Tom Cosm megaset idea, that I control mostly with an APC40. I use 5 return tracks in my set.

A-Clean
B-FX chain
C-The Finger
D-Delay
E-Reverb

So the idea for this device is to be able to map my APC's Activator, Solo, and Rec buttons to the A, B, C buttons on this device which gives me a 3 way toggle. If "A" is on, then B and C are off. If "B" is on, A and C are off etc.

SENDS D and E use the 3xParameterSeq by Ivehon, which comes with the ability to turn the seq on or off, so you can either automate or manually control sends D and E. Thanks Ivehon.

I built this before I actually mapped it to the APC40. The A, B and C buttons work but not exactly like I want. I am trying to figure out how to make them turn eachother on an off making the corresponding leds on the APC indicate which send is active. Right now the way it works the buttons are connected to a series of message boxes turning on and off live dials. Somehow I need out figure out how to actually do this to the buttons. If that makes any since?

OK, sort of fixed it.

However I would still like some help with getting the GUI to give proper led feedback for A B and C.

Also I would like to know how to get rid of the drop down menu for selecting which track the device was going to control, and replace it with something that automated that. So which ever track it was plugged into, it would automatically read those particular sends.

Any ideas???

for some reason the assigned Rec button does not work the way Activator and Solo buttons do.
if fact, it doesn't work at all (no action)

tiwe,

Not sure why that is. It seems to work for me, does anyone else have this problem?

sorry i was being dumb, my bad
new update is ACE!
thank you for sharing

as an afterthought
as you have developed this presumably for the apc40 - how do you get momentary buttons on it? O_o

tiwe,

I dont really get momentary from the APC. I have been using my nanoKontrol to trigger the FXcut. HOWEVER, I do use Bomes to get momentary function out of the APC. From what I heard on forums momentary functions are something Cycling74 might update in Max?

Evidently you can do some tricky workarounds to get momentary APC buttons with M4L, but I have had no such luck, ....yet.

i see.
the workaround to get momentary buttons i use is to create 1-note midi clips with a launch mode set to gate and launch quantization set to none.
however you need a fx plugin designed to receive note on/offs (effectrix, artillery, the finger).

i've built my liveset around your plugin, it makes so much sense. really appreciate your work

If you observe the state of the APC buttons they act as momentary as standard, you then need to put a live button that bangs on 1 not zero and a toggle between the live.observer and the live.button (set to toggle) to have it act as a toggle...

Cheers
D
