Device Overview

Name/Version: dRAW 1.0
Author: argoman
Description: dRAW is a special kind of wavetable synthesizer, inspired by the early experiments about optical sound by Oskar Fischinger and Arseny Avraamov, back in 1920s.

The source waveforms used in its oscillators and LFOs are grabbed from an uploaded image or a camera stream. This allows you - for instance - to sketch shapes on a piece of paper and then scan them for being used in the synthesis process.

Changing the image parameters (e.g. Brightness, Contrast, Threshold) will affect the detected shapes and thus the waveforms in real time.

Interesting stuff starts to happen when you will start to modulate the waveforms of the oscillators with the LFOs…

Requirements:

dRAW needs some max libraries and externals:

- cv.jit library by Jean-Marc Pelletier (https://jmpelletier.com/cvjit/)

- jit.wavescanner2~ external (provided with this release, OSX only for now, sorry)

Download these modules and place them in the same folder where you will install the m4l device (or in your usual Max folder if you already have Max installed).
