Device Overview

Name/Version: neur0 0.2
Author: willum070
Description: neur0 is an 8-cell sequencer that creates polyrhythmic and otherwise insane output. It's set up to output to Impulse. Inspiration came when I got my copy of AudioDamage Axon, and decided to try exploring those ideas in Max. Each "neuron" outputs a count of beats at the selected time signature, and can receive output from other selected neurons. So if you set 4, it will fire on every 4th beat.

Suggestions for improvement are welcome. Oh, and if you find the color scheme to be too pukey, there is a strange little gadget inside the patch that you can use to generate a list of bgcolor values and simultaneously apply them.

Nice Sequencer...

I have Axon too and like it a lot...

Would be nice if you could make the Sequencer look like in
Axon too. I mean those Hexagons...

Have to try out your sequencer first, but I think it will be good
if it does what Axon does...

Greets

Thanks for trying it. I didn't want to be too blatant about duplicating Axon since I have a license for that anyway. As I used Axon I found myself wishing I could use those parameters to control other things besides just the rhythm, so this version is a starting point. Also it embraces the idiosyncrasies of Max's scheduler timing. If I can manage to avoid getting distracted i'd like to explore using it to trigger other types of automation, and maybe add a swing feature (destined to be as imperfect as it can be). The individual neuron cells expose send/receive, so they can easily be rerouted in a number of ways.

this one is really cool ... just tried 2 seconds with the impulse percussion 1 kit an get an wonderful loop!
Thanks for this... best idea since 150 patches on this site.

cheers from graz

Neur0 + analog shift register + EMS Synthi emulation =
