Device Overview

Name/Version: Launcher 2.2
Author: connorpogue
Description: Original device:

This is an updated version of the Launcher 2.0 device. Originally the user could only select up to 127 in the 'Pad 1 Track' and 127 in the 'clip slot' track. This has now been increase to 1000 for both. Good if you are working on big Live sets ;)

The Problem

I wanted to be able to use a standard midi controller (MPD218) to control Ableton Live clips. I could hard midi map the controller output to the clip slots, but then I don’t have the flexibility of changing songs and launching a different clip.

The Solution

Launcher, a free Max4Live device, takes the input from my controller and translates it to trigger a clip slot. I can put this device on different chains, and have each chain correspond to a different clip slot. That way, when I switch chains, it automagically switches which set of clips I’m launching with my controller. Happy smiley yay performing electronic music.
