XeVeQuencer V6 Audio Effect Max for Live
************************************************
This is gangly as hell, but it does sound good as a bit of spice, its a tempo synced stepped stereo trance gate M4L Audio Device type yoke, A errr - velocity sequencer of sorts, essentially a fancy volume knob with fast attack and decay times synced to your Ableton project tempo -- you can set the quantisation in Live's time format and you can choose the number of steps per sequence (so works well with odd time signatures and polyrhythms etc.).
The two tables, left and right, allow you to set the volume of each step in the sequence, independently for the left and right channels (though the length of the sequences are locked together....for now....).

When you set the Quantisation, Attack, Decay and Seq Length parameters the device will calculate the length of a step at your current project tempo. This will be reflected in the Hold and Step Length parameters. "Hold(ms)" is the "Step Length(ms)" minus the sum of Attack and Decay and represents how much time is left after the attack and decay are taken into account with each step. You need to find a balance between the rise, fall and hold just like any envelope generator, going beyond the Step Length and negative with the Hold may cause weird artifacts........
Position displays the current playing step, Direction changes the sequence order, Dry increases the volume of the bypassed audio, Wet increases the volume of the sequenced audio.
Draw your sequence in the Left and Right tables, each step representing 0-100% of the incoming audio.
The device should start and stop with Live, you may need to start Live (press play) after fiddling to re-sync the device with Live's transport position.

Presets
*********************
There is a preset management system to allow saving your settings, for this to work you must save XeVeQuencer as a device preset within Live (the little floppy disk icon on the top right of XeVe's panel, Live will save a .adv file in you menu browser User Library), then when you save your Live Project the M4L device and presets will be saved with it, (neat huh?).

Controls
**********************
The usual PD/Max controls work, shift-click the number boxes and use the decimal places for finer resolution setting values, better still click on the number box and type the number pressing enter to finish. Shift-click a preset box to save, Alt-shift-click to erase, single-left click to select a preset.
**********************

This plugin is a bit sensitive so I would not recommend it for live use yet, the only midi parameter enabled is the wet dial, which allows you to blend the output.

Don't know if I have forgotten something...but....be excellent to each-other.

Still Todo
****************
Make sure midi is ok and that macro controls work.
Improve host syncing.
Introduce a some more curve variety for the ramps, add randomisation options for the velocity sequences.
\include panning sequencer/

Bugs
******************************************
There was a big overhaul, all the sends and receives were dropped for stability, and I also dropped use of the Live Object Model to query the hosts transport info, I didn't realise it was not compatible with offline rendering, Plugsync~ is much more stable and I will go and modify my other devices.(I have yet still to work out why it wouldn't work and I will look into this).

I'm confused why there's 16 steps on each side for a 16 step sequence. Is there a difference in the function of the left and right parameters?
It works on Live 10.1.4 Suite.
Scratch that. L/R independant with pan. That's pretty cool. This has some interesting uses in combination with effects.
This device has a lot of potential. I used it yesterday to modulate a synth chord arrangement with great effect. I used it in front of a chain followed with delay, phaser and another instance of it, set differently. It sounded great.

Here's where the issues were discovered. When saving/collect all save my project, all of the parameters on the device were reset.

When trying to freeze the track with the device, the effect was completely omitted from playback.

When trying to render the project to a mix, , the entire track with device was omitted from the mix altogether.

The only solution was to live resample to another audio track to capture it's effect.

I'd strongly suggest that you finish this and stabilize it. It's actually a very good processor and I could see myself using it in many ways.
