The liver is an important organ of our body. The main function of the liver is to perform filtration of waste products from the blood. The blood which is filtered is then supplied to various parts of our body. Another vital role performed by the liver is to make protein which is required to perform clotting of the blood.
Thus the liver has good roles to play and hence we need to ensure that we keep it healthy. How do we do that? We need to inculcate few healthy habits that help the liver sustain longer. The following points help us understand as to how we can keep the liver healthy:

Drink a lot of water
Consuming about 8 to 10 glasses of water every day can help flush out all the toxins from our body. Drinking ample amounts of water can cause a detoxifying effect also facilitate the liver to perform the task of detoxification smoothly?
Quit alcohol
Many studies indicate theta drinking alcohol can be linked with many liver diseases. Hence quit drinking alcohol. Many studies also reveal that an alcohol free lifestyle can promote better health of the liver and reduce risks associated with many heart disease.
Sleep well
All your body parts including the liver require rest. Hence sleep for at least seven hours every day.
Reduce intake of foods that are high in bad fat
When eating foods, increase your intake of foods that are high in omega 3 fatty acids. Do not eat foods that are rich in trans-fat or saturated fats. Both these fats are not good for your health and can build up on the liver. Such a build of fats can inflame the liver.
Be active
Being physically active can keep you liver health. Hence if you are gaining weight, ensure that you exercise regularly to keep your liver healthy for a longer period of time. Avoid a sedentary lifestyle.
Eat well, follow a balanced diet
Follow balanced diet that will help you gain all the essential nutrients. The vital nutrients that are obtained from food are essential for long term sustenance of all the vital organs of our body, including the liver.
Manage stress
Do not destress yourself. Being under stress constantly can increase the task of your liver. The liver has to perform a cleansing job when you are under stress as your body produces adrenalin when highly stressed. Hence stay calm and relax. This in turn will relax your liver.
