Device Overview

Name/Version: Low Fidelity - Lo-Fi Looper 1.0
Author: badkidstothefront
Description: First version of my newest device: Low Fidelity, the Lo-fi Looper. This device is very much indebted to the Ciat Lonbarde Cocoquantus, which I began listening to clips of and got very fascinated by it's lo-fi sounds. I certainly don't claim for this to be even remotely similar to that, but I tried to find my own unique take on the idea of playing back something and degrading it. It is meant to be rather obtuse and strange, but I've found it works great for a perfect mix between musical and chaos.

The core of the device is two groove~ objects playing back what is being recorded into the buffer. The recording can be triggered manually or with a metronome. With controls for the playback speed and time, and a fine tune control for lower speeds, together the two can create unique and new textures from the same input source. Both loops are then fed into a bitcrusher, and then into a resonant bandpass filter. Both of these allow the loops to truly starved of their original characteristics, making them sound unnatural and distorted. This is furthered by the next section of the looper, which for lack of a better word I've called Modulation. It contains a sine/saw wave LFO that modulates that volume. It goes into very low rates and audio rate, creating slow beats or ring modulation. This is also combined with a noise circuit which can be raised to further degrade the original sound. There's a lot of possibilities for this thing and I hope you guys find some use out of it. Feel free to let me know things I should improve or change in future updates!

Hi, great to see the coco get picked up as a reference.

I would suggest that you look into using presentation mode for laying out your patches. The reason why is that it makes the opened patch much more readable, and it makes it possible to lay out the presentation while you're still working on the patch.
Right-click the patch to get the patcher inspector, and then select "open in presentation". I don't know why this isn't the default state, but there you go.
