Device Overview

Name/Version: mSteqr 1.1
Author: cip22
Description: A probabilistic 16-step sequencer. It puts the notes from the current MIDI clip in a buffer (a new set whenever a new note or chord is played) and plays them according to the settings in two multisliders.
One multislider determines the probability that a note is played on any 16th step. The second one is to set the velocity for each step.
Settings are stored automatically as soon as the current clip stops and another one plays, and are saved along with the live set.
This is the M4L re-implementation of a project I did 10 years ago in Max. It misses some features, but the possibility to let MIDI clips from Live feed it is very charming. Have fun and give some feedback if you like it (or if you don't).

A hint: If you route MIDI from several tracks, use this device on the source tracks, not the target (at least if you want predictable results). First, if the sequencer is running or not is determined by the clips *in the track where the device is*. Second, every incoming midi changes the buffer! So if you want to layer musical motives on the same instrument (I like mallets for that), use mSteqr on several tracks and route the MIDI to a track with just the instrument and audio effects.

New in version 1.1:
Fixed a bug which caused notes to be dropped at first clip start in a currently silent track.
Added copy/paste so that you can copy settings from one clip position to another.
Added a number box for a degree of randomness in velocities.
