Device Overview

Name/Version: Damn - Single Button Redo Recording 0.3
Author: tomluft
Description: Description:
You have this wonderful idea, you start recording but Damn! - you played an awful note, you dropped the mic, your cat walked down your keyboard...

This is a very simple device with just one (mapable) button. It does the following:
1) delete the currently selected clip(s)
2) stop transport
3) start recording the currently selected clip(s)

This way you can just start over again without any kind of interruption.
This is my very first Max device and for me it really is most helpful. I used to achieve the same with a keystroke sending program (EventGhost) sending [delete] [space] [enter] to Live, but hey - now its fully integrated into Live!

How to:
a) copy Damn!.amxd to your M4L preset folder (Live 9: user library)
b) download ring_keyPress.class (http://www.ringensemble.de/MAX/ring_keyPress.class) and
c) copy it to Cycling '74\Max 6.1\Cycling '74\java\classes
d) load the device to a track (master!)
e) map anything convenient (pedal!) to the button
f) enjoy making music!

Changelog:
0.3: audio version (aka you-can-now-put-it-on-the-master-track version)
0.2: frozen version
0.1: initial version

Wouldn't freezing the device remove the requirement to deal with the .class file?

As this is my first device, I'm not sure. I just did the freezing thingy and Max's console shows a bunch of files it added to it. But that's only patches and no sign of the class.
Anyhow, I uploaded a new frozen version. 0.2 is born!

I needed this for very long time. Thanks a lot!!

By the way- would it be possible to create similar device for doubling the midi clip? I mean if it?s 1 bar, then make it 2 bars containing the same midi twice. Would definitely pay for this.
